Golden Gaytime

Hello family and friends! Happy P-day to y'all. This week was super good and a lot better. Which I really needed. But before I get chastised by my parents, Golden Gaytime is this type of ice cream and it's the best ice cream I think I've ever had. Weird name for ice cream though, am I right? OK let's see how this week went shall we?

Ok so to start the week, on last pday we had a bunch of missionaries over from the zone. We played lots of volleyball and other games. Then Tuesday and Wednesday we had some meetings but also had a couple of lessons with friends we're teaching. So that was pretty good. We also had some amazing visits with less active members. One of which was Chris, who we've been working with since I've been here. So that was super great.
Then on Thursday we had zone conference. That was great as usual. We had a lot of good trainings and messages. And then I had my interview with president and the very first thing he said when I walked in was, "Elder Kapp, hey you've been here a long time." Yes President, I have. So we were able to talk about that so hopefully I'll be leaving after this transfer because I need it. Then Friday and Saturday were busy days. On Friday we had a couple of lessons and found a couple new friends to teach. And then Saturday we visited a member bright and early, and then had English class with Diego and Leidy. Which was great and after we finished teaching them the restoration using Google translate. Gosh I love technology. Then after that we went straight to visit some members and friends. And then a ton more members. When we were at the bus stop we had 40ish minutes until out bus came because weekend buses suck. And we were hungry because we hadn't eat yet that day, so we went to this fruit store and bought these pizzas that were made, you just had to micro them. So we both got one and ate cold pizzas at the bus stop in between appointments. If that doesn't sum up mission life I don't know what does haha.
So yeah that's about all that happened this week. We also had sports night which was fun. And on Sunday we had lunch at a members house with the priests and talked to them about missions and stuff after. That was super beast. But that's about it. Nothing super exciting happening.
I came across this scripture this last week that I wanted to share, it's 1 Samuel 16:7, "...for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." I love this scripture because I even catch myself judging people from first glances. But as the greatest and oldest saying goes, "Don't judge a book by its cover." So yeah, it's good to see people how God sees them.
Transfers got moved to the Sunday the 13th. So fingers crossed I leave. I love this area, but man I need to leave. I love you all! Have an amazing week. Thanks for the love and support!

Whatever the Lord Wants

Happy Monday family and friends!!! Man life has been a roller-coaster. Whatever the Lord wants I guess. But, I got to go to the temple this week and that helped loads. So literally pday was the best day day ever!!! I got to hang with koalas, roos, and so many other animals. It was literally the best pday literally ever. Other than that the week was pretty average for the most part.

We had a couple lessons with friends. We've been dropping people left and right. So that's been just amazing. But our lessons were actually good. And then of course we went to the temple this week. Like what can beat that? Answer: literally nothing. We had some amazing visits with some members in our ward. Including crashing our Stake President's family gathering by accident.
My highlight for the week (besides pday) was the exchanges we had. So I went to Firle with Elder Bushell for the exchange. The day started great, we went to breakfast for their ward and they live so far from the chapel so we have to change buses in the city. While we did that we found this guy who really needed to hear our message. And then after this guy came up to us and asked if we'd pray with him, and then, we helped these people visiting with directions. Super beast way to start the day. After that we had an amazing breakfast and talked to their members loads. But we had to dip for a lesson with their friend Patrick. That lesson was amazing! They're seeing him again this week. After that we went to this lacrosse club and talked to the guy there about doing free service. He's a chill dude. He wanted me to play but I said I couldn't because of mission rules. Super great time. After that we went door knocking and we found this lady named Shauna and she let us in and we talked for 45 minutes with her. It was probably my favorite door knocking experience. Then after that we went to this mall bc it was pouring and we just had studies in this food court. Totally a different experience but I loved it. After that we took a bus back to the flat and found another person and taught him at a park. This exchange was amazing! I really needed it.
My shoulder has been doing a lot better. This week I'm going to start to work out and see what happens. Trial and error am I right? But this week should be busy. We have zone conference so imma talk to president about moving me. We'll see what the Lord wants.
This week I was studying a lot on missionary work. And something that I came across is celebrating the small miracles. Like there are so many little events that happened in the Book of Mormon that made a huge impact. So it's helped me realize to appreciate the little things in life and celebrate every small victory. Because the little things are what make the biggest difference.
Well I love you all and hope you have the most amazing week. Talk to y'all next week.

4 more in Morialta

7 months down and 17 to go. Crazy how time is flying. Well did fly, this transfer is going a little slower. Imma be pulling my hair out if I have to do another transfer in Morialta, which if you haven't been following along, will be 9 months. But I've still been enjoying my time here so it's been bearable. This week was pretty great. Monday we had a bunch of missionaries from the zone come to our chapel for pday. We played lots of games and sports tournaments. It was a blast. And then that night we had dinner with the Rochas, and they made such a delicious dinner.

Tuesday was pretty decent. Tuesdays are probably my least favorite day of the week. It's right after pday and right before DCM. But it was still good this week. We saw my main man Brother Cross and that was great as always. Then we had a lot of time to door knock which I missed. I seriously love door knocking. Then later in the day we had a video call with my friend Samuel in Nigeria. So it was a pretty solid day.

Wednesday started with district council. It went really good. The district is really starting to feel more and more like a family. Then after that we tried going grey dot finding. A sister in the district said its her favorite thing so I thought we'd give it a try. Yeah... definitely not my favorite thing. You know you've been in an area for a while when the longest seen people in area book were people I taught when I first got here. Really weird revisiting them. But with this we met a super cool guy named Shaun. We had a great lesson with him and taught him actually a ton and are seeing him again this week. And then after that we met some members and had a lesson with our friend Mahesh. It was a pretty great day

On to Thursday, today was a slow day. We tried visiting some people and then knocked a stupid rich area. Surprise, no one was interested. But then after we visited a less active family in the ward and that was good. And then that leads us to Friday. So today was pretty beast. We went to a see a friend we found a while ago and finally got in contact with him. And we got there a little early so we door knocked and found this super amazing lady. We talked to her a bunch and were able to have a lesson with her. Then after we had a lesson with our friend Bill, and dang my guy's rich. He got us cake and it all had gold on it and was so delicious. We had an amazing lesson. It was super great. Then after we visited some members and friends.
Saturday was also super amazing. We went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders and I stayed in Morialta. We found so many friends to teach it was amazing. And then we also had a super amazing lesson with our friend Erik. And saw two less active member families. And to finish the night we went to Bishops for dinner. And it was just a blast. And then on Sunday we had church meetings, weekly planning, saw some members and had dinner with the Yeows.
This week was pretty decent. Time sure feels to be slowing down some days. I'm going to try to get out of Morialta after this transfer, so we'll see how that goes.
A little message comes from the video "The Will of God". It's all about trusting in God that he knows what's best for us and will help shape us into our best self. I strongly encourage watching that video. It's pretty amazing.
Well I hope you know how much I love you all. And I'm so grateful for all the support and love I get. Have a super great week!

Another One Bites the Dust

 Happy 4th Everyone!

This week felt a little longer for some reason. But also it feels like the last pday was two days ago. Oh whale 🐋. This week was pretty good though. So more spiritual stuff, we had some amazing lessons with some of our friends. A lot of them have been progressing great and it's been super amazing to see it.
So super crazy story, back in January I had my first exchange with Elder Hawes, and while on that exchange we met this guy at the park named Erik. We had a long chat with him, and he said he's always at that park at the same time. So Elder Jian and I would go at the same time for the next two weeks hoping to see Erik. But no luck. Fast forward to last Saturday, Elder Son and I were door knocking and needed to use the bathroom, so we were just going to stop at that park. While walking it reminded me of Erik, so I told Elder Son the story, we went to the park and sat on this bench. And all of a sudden, a car pulls up right in front of us. Elder Son said he thought I saw a ghost, but it was Erik! We literally talked about him ten minutes before. We had an amazing chat with him and got his details and have a lesson with him this next week. That was such a miracle!
Any who, besides that we did some super fun things this week. We went bowling on pday and guess who won both games? Hint Hint, me. Then on Saturday we went on a hike with our friend Ben at 6:30 in the morning. For those of you who don't know, it's rainy season here. We were literally walking through rivers and jumping across rocks. And then at the end there was this super long cave where we had to like army crawl to get in (not super easy with a broken collarbone). And there was water up to our shins going through, but it was super cool. And we also saw three kangaroos so that was awesome. Then that night we found a group of people from a community who come together and play soccer every Saturday. There was 20-30 and it was so fun. The field was super muddy and I realized after one fall on my collarbone that it probably wasn't the best idea. That being said we played for a little over an hour and won!!! And met some super cool people so it was all worth it.
A little thought for y'all comes from Doctrine and Covenants 18: 15-16, "And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father! 16 And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me!" If you can only save one soul, then make it your own. No point in trying to save others if you're not saved yourself.
Well my most amazing family and friends, I love you all and hope you have a great week. As always, thank you for all the love and support!

On To 5 in Morialta

Monday: It was a pretty uneventful day for me haha. Got to call my family which was good. And then watch everyone play volleyball. I did play some Bananagrams and Cover Your Assets and won both. So yeah, that's my p-day.

Tuesday: So today was super great. The day started with us seeing Brother Mathers, and then seeing Brother Cross. Both visits were amazing. I love seeing the members of our ward. Then after that Elder Carr took us to the hospital so I could get more X-rays. The doctor told me I'll just be in a sling for 6 weeks. And then get more X-rays at the end of that to see how it looks. Then we went door knocking for a little after that which was good. Didn't find anyone super interested but that's ok. Then we went to see our friend Petra. She always tells us to come back another time and is just too busy so we were expecting that, but she let us in! We had a super amazing lesson with her. The spirit was so strong it was amazing. And then after our lesson with her, we went and saw our friend David. David has been doing amazing. He's read so much of the Book of Mormon and said he wants to come to church. We had such a great lesson with him. And then after that we video called our friend Samuel and had a super amazing lesson with him and one of his friends. It was a super great day.

Wednesday: Today was decent. We had district council, which was ok. Our district is just drama with certain missionaries. But after that, we went out and door knocked for most of the day and found three people who we got return appointments with. So that was a super good. Then we had dinner with the Bennallacks in our ward. Dinner was amazing and we were able to share a message with them. It was a good way to wrap up the day.

Thursday: Today was a good day. We went and saw Brother Turk. He always tries to get us to watch movies with him. It was so hard to stay awake because he always just has a lamp on and he loves to talk. After that we saw our friend Jeff and had an amazing lesson with him. After that we went door knocking and found one person who we got a return visit with. And then we went to go see one of our friends who we've never been able to get in contact with so we were going to drop them but for the first time in two months, they were home! And we had a lesson with them and it went super well.

Friday: Today we visited heaps of members. And then did door knocking and Facebook work. Not a whole lot to talk about today. But for dinner we went to the Robertsons. I haven't been since she went to China. It was amazing and I really missed her cooking. So yeah that's my Friday.

Saturday: It was a pretty busy day for us. We had English class in the morning with Diego and Leidy and had a lesson with them afterwards. Then after that we went to go see Karl who is the new member of our ward. Then we had a visit with a family in our ward which went amazing. Then we had a lesson with our friend Darryl. We put together a shelf and talked a lot about the Holy Ghost. Then we had a little time for finding. And to end the day we had dinner with Elder and Sister Felt, with the Firle Elders and AP's. It was so good and such a blast.

Sunday: Sunday was a pretty solid day. We had church, weird I thought that'd stop being a missionary. Jokes. Then we had super fun meetings (said no one ever). Then we went to see a referral an hour bus ride away and they weren't home. There goes two hours I'll never get back. Then we finally had our studies and weekly planning. Then later we had dinner with the Rice family! Dinner was amazing as ever and I didn't blow up their toilet twice this time. And then to end the night we had our transfer call... and of course I'm staying for Transfer number 5. But there were tons of movement. Our district has half the missionaries leaving so we're getting a lot of new ones. Oh and I got called as district leader so I'm excited about that. But here's to 7 and a half months in Morialta.

Spiritual Message: So my little message is all about the two great commandments...love. Not the gross kissing kind because ew (Hint Hint Hallie Mae), but the super awesome kind that brings people even closer together than the other kind. ["While not easy, it is possible with the help of our Lord, Jesus Christ. He gave this command to love, and He promises His help as we seek to obey it." - President Oaks] I've seen on the mission how hard it is to love EVERYONE. Through slammed doors, people yelling at us on buses or what not, it can be hard. But we are commanded to love and promised to have the help we need to love those that do wrong to us. So my little invitation is to think of someone who you might not be too thrilled when you hear their name and love the ever-loving heck out of them. Because our world could use a little more love.

A little wrap up, this week was an amazing week. Filled with miracles and blessings. I'm beyond grateful for my support system, aka all of you. Without it, dang this would be heaps harder. But luckily, I have the best family and friends imaginable. Thanks for all you've done for me. I love you all and hope you have a stellar week!

My Partners in Crime

 Hello everyone.

Wow, it's crazy, another week went by. Well where to get started? I found out my X-rays look good so no surgery. Yay. Last Monday couldn't do a whole lot besides play Cover Your Assets. So that was just a blast of a pday. But that night we had dinner with the Stake president and his family so that was good. Then on Tuesday we just focused on finding. We did find two people so that was exciting.
Ok now we're on to Wednesday. So we had our district meeting in the morning which I had to leave early to go to the hospital again to see an orthopedic surgeon. Then we went to China town and got some fire lunch. Then we went and visited some members. Thursday was an intense day. It was freezing and pouring all day. But that didn't stop us from knocking doors. We also had a couple of lessons that went super well.
On Friday we had zone conference! It was a super great one. A common theme was building comp unity. And then we had a testimony meeting which was super amazing. Then Saturday was just crazy. We started the day with English class, and then just had visits the rest of the day. We had great lessons, member visits, and a little time to door knock. Then Sunday, it wasn't the best of days. It started with my parents calling letting me know that our dog and my brother's dog passed away unexpectedly the same night. They were my partners in crime. They were my best buds and they'll be greatly missed.
And then today is p-day. It's a zone p-day which means volleyball that I can't play. I'm just so excited about that (he said sarcastically).
A little message is from Elder Uchtdorf's talk this last general conference: "A parent’s love for a child is one of the strongest forces in the universe. It’s one of the few things on this earth that can truly be eternal." Lucky for me I have the two greatest parents out there. They celebrated with me, cried with me, and are there for me always. Parents have such a huge impact on how their kids turn out. And thank goodness they do.
Time to wrap up this email. I love you all and hope you can have a great week!

Broken Collarbone

 Happy Monday everyone!

My week this week was pretty good besides the part where I broke my collarbone! I broke it at 10pm and had to go to the emergency room until 1am. So yeah that was a bummer. We'll find out if I have to get surgery hopefully sometime this week.
On a brighter note, we had a lot of lessons this week which was so good. We got to do service for our friend Darryl again. We just finished up his tile job in his kitchen. It was pretty fun. Also this week, we had a service for a family in our ward. They have ALOT of stuff in their house and just needed help cleaning and moving stuff. I actually enjoyed it. Any type of service is good and fun.
Also, we had exchanges again this week. I went to Firle with Elder Oliphant. It was super great. To start, we found a blue tongue lizard in the backyard. Then we filmed a video with some sisters for Facebook. Then we checked in on some of their friends, door knocked a little and then had a super baller lesson. The lesson was with a family they're teaching and they're just so awesome. We taught the law of chastity so yayyyy. They had great questions from their personal reading and other stuff. Then at the end we asked if they needed anything and their aunt, who was just visiting and never taught, asked for a blessing. I was able to do that and what a special experience. She's going to start to get taught the lessons.
Sorry for a short email, it's not super fun writing one while being broken. A little spiritual thought comes from the story where the woman had a blood problem and touched a thread of the Saviors robe and was healed. He said he didn't heal her but her faith. Something so simple made the largest difference. Is incredible to think of the little things we've done in life and the huge roll and impact they left. Continue to do the small things in faith. And see the miracles come in.
I love you all! Have a super great week. Thanks for all the support. Talk to y'all next week.
