Merry Christmas!!!

It's so crazy to think that I'll be home for next Christmas. And even crazier that last Christmas, I was in the MTC. Mission time is weird. Anywho, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! This is most definitely my most favorite time of the year. I first off, love snow (I don't get it this year), I love the time spent with family and loved ones, and I love Jesus Christ! It's all my favorite things in one, so I could I not love the Holidays? Today we're going to a members house for breakfast. These members are some of my favorites so I am very excited to spend the morning with them. Then the rest of the day we're just getting together as a district and playing games and what not. So it should be a pretty good day.

This week was a pretty good one. To start, last Monday was our last day as a district before changes. So we went on a hike which we saw a lot of kangaroos, jumped a lot of fences, ate it and my leg went through a fence, and then ending with us walking throw a narrow highway going through the canyon. So you know, just your casual Monday. It was sad to see some missionaries leave, but this next district is going to be lit.

Tuesday and Wednesday were awesome because we biked! Haha, my comp hated every second of it. So no more biking with him. But we were able to see a lot more people because biking is heaps faster than riding the bus. Just a lot more tiring. During the week, we were able to see a lot of our indigenous friends. With that, some sad news, our friends on date for baptism moved. But some good news, we know where they moved to and now those missionaries are seeing them. Anywho, our indigenous friends were suppose to come to church, but something came up. So hopefully this next week we can work with them. Other than that, the majority of our friends were either out of town or super busy with the holidays, so we didn't have a ton of lessons, but... we had a lot of time to door knock!!! WOOHOO! And dang, was this an amazing week with door knocking. We had heaps of spiritual experiences and found so many people who have had their hearts prepared. We are very excited for the weeks to come to see what the Lord has instore for us.

We also had service with that one guy with all the junk. During it, I saw the biggest spider I have literally ever seen. It was huge. I not a picture, but the picture doesn't show how large it was. Also, last night, we had a Christmas Eve dinner with Tony Bright and his family. The food was way good as always, and it was fun to be included with the holiday events.

This season, the spiritual thought is obviously on Christmas. It's so easy to focus on the worldly things during the holidays. The gifts, the food, the parties, but why do we celebrate Christmas? Because of Jesus Christ! His name is literally in the holiday's name. So I invite each one of you to focus your holidays on him. One of my favorite family traditions is every Christmas Eve, we would read the account of the Savior's birth. It was a good reminder during all the celebrating to remember of what we actually should be celebrating. And that of course, is Christ.

I love you all so very much, and hope you have a most amazing Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Thank you for everything. Have a super stellar week!

Hump Dayyyy

I'm officially half way through my mission! Time has absolutely flown by. I have mixed feelings about it but got to work with what we got, right? This week was crazy good. First things first, we had transfer calls yesterday. And of course I'm staying and will finish training Elder Shum. I'm happy about staying in this area. It'll be a good next transfer.

This week started with a combined zone conference! It was so good. I got to see some of my favorite missionaries and it was such a fun time. The mission got all the Elders Indigenous ties which are so cool. Overall is was such a spirit filled time and a great time to catch up with friends.

Also this week our district went and sang carols for this care facility. After we sang we just talked with the residents which was super good. Then after our district went to this super nice restaurant for lunch. Afterwards we had a couple of lessons which were amazing and then door knocked. Then later for dinner we went to a member's house and they gave us so much food but we were both so sick from lunch. But we ate it. Slowly.

On Saturday we had a Bible study with Vilameen and Reyno. Which went amazing and they're starting to see the truth more and more from our church. So we're excited about that. On a different note, this week we've been visiting a lot of less active members, and a lot of them came to church on Sunday. We were so happy about it. Now we just have to keep them going more and more. And then later that evening we had a Christmas devotional. We sang a musical item and guess who was there? A bunch of members from my last ward! I got to chat with them a bunch after the meeting. It was so good to see them again.

This week was super good and very spirit felt. We were busy everyday with lessons and visits so it was good to see the work progress. And lastly and little spiritual thought was remember the meaning of Christmas. It's so easy to forget why we celebrate this holiday. So this next week, remember why you celebrate Christmas and remember all the Savior has done for you.

Well I love you all! Have an amazing Christmas and an amazing week. Thanks for everything!

;)

Hey everyone! To be honest, nothing too exciting happened this week. Like it was a very good week, don't get me wrong, but yeah, I guess just same old, same old. First thing first, I hit my year mark this week. Isn't that crazy? I think it's crazy. Anywho time for the mission stuff. So first on Tuesday we had a lesson with our friends Tyra and Victoria. That lesson went amazing. We had one of our members come (Dave) and the spirit was so strong and we taught a lot. Tyra is from New Zealand and I have no clue where her friend is from. But they're super keen so we'll see where that goes. Then right after that, we went to the chapel and had another beast lesson with our friend Arpan. She had some amazing questions and was open to hear us out.

Also this week, one of the less active members has all these Christmas decorations and she won this Adelaide competition. So we went and checked it out and she was super happy to see us. It was pretty cool not gonna lie. And from that, we got her to come to our ward Christmas party on Saturday! We were super happy she ended up coming. It was a lot of fun.

Also during the week we had another amazing lesson with our Indigenous friends Alfreda and Carl. And we put them on date for baptism, so we'll see what happens there. Super stoked about that. Then one morning we visited some members and they had me dig a grave for their chicken. She said it's good fertilizer. Then after that we had four lessons that morning! By the end I was literally mentally exhausted and slept on the bus ride to lunch. Then later that day while biking to an appointment, my comp broke another bike. So we had to have the sisters come pick up our bikes because we were so far away from our flat. Oh and the bike he broke was mine because I was riding his broken bike. So that was nice haha.

Other stuff that happened during the week; we had a great lesson with our friend John. And addition to that, we had a couple more lessons with our other friends we are teaching. We also had our ward Christmas party on Saturday, and that was a blast. And yeah that's pretty much it.

A little spiritual thought is this quote; "Being happy does not always mean being without hardship. Sometimes it means just the opposite." Sometimes we need a burden, an extra load or task to help us truly feel happy.

Well I love you all. Have an amazing week and here's to 12 more months.

Keep me in TTG

HOLY COW, was this week full of miracles and such a joyful week. Hi everyone! How have you all been? If you can't tell, this week was so good for us here in the Tea Tree Gully. First things first, I want to talk about what happened yesterday. So, a little back story, we met another aboriginal family this week. We had an amazing lesson, and they wanted to come to church. So Sunday morning, since there were no buses, we walked an hour to their house at 6 am. And they said they were too tired and sleeping. After 15 minutes the mom came out and we sat on her driveway and shared a message and prayed. But then she went in and said she's too tired for church. We were a little frustrated, we just spent an hour and half trying to get them to church. So we left because we had to walk another 45 minutes to catch a bus. But while at the bus stop, they called us saying they are getting ready and are going to come. And sure enough, they came! They absolutely loved it! It was a roller-coaster of a morning but so worth it.

Also this week, we went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders. So Elder Arnold came here with me. It was such a good exchange. We had a some lessons, visited less actives, and found heaps of people. And then to close the night, he and I got the mega feast from Hungry Jacks! It was a lot of food, but hey, new memory haha.

The rest of the week was just full of so many lessons, services, and member visits. With some finding here and there. This area is so good and I never want to leave it. So make sure you're praying I stay for next transfer haha. It's crazy to see the Lord's hand in his work. Like it shows that it's his work, and people are prepared to receive him. It's just on us to trust him to lead us to those people. This leads me to our next miracle, Tyra. So there's been this street I've been wanting to knock for so long but for some reason we never had time or something would come up. But the other day Elder Shum and I both felt so strong that it was time. So we knocked it and man was it going bad. No one would let us utter a word. We knocked one whole side and then the next. All felt lost until one of the last houses. We knocked, and the person who answered asked us if we could teach them right then and there. They loved the Book of Mormon, and the spirit was so strong. It was such a blessing and miracle.

Then some random stuff, last pday was lit. We had chalk wars and played egg roulette. And painted each other's shirts. So fun. We saw a bunch of baby kangaroos, which were so cute. We had a service and I caught a large lizard so that was cool. So yeah that's my week.

The little spiritual thought goes back to a quote years ago. "No empty chairs." I could have it off, but you get what I'm saying. When we're up in Heaven, will all our loved ones be there? Who'll be missing? Why? We need to be doing our best to make sure every single chair is filled.

As always, I love you all. I hope you have a most amazing week. I'll talk to y'all next week.

Happy Thanksgiving

Looks like we meet again. Hi everyone! Another week, another email. This week was really good. Imma only talk about some things for the sake of the length of the email. First things first, on Wednesday we had two major miracles. First one, was our lesson with our friend Chris. He invited us in and the lesson went so good. And later in the week we saw him again. And then the second miracle of Wednesday was we had dinner with our friends Matt and Abi. If you've forgotten, they had us over for dinner a couple of weeks ago, they are a young couple with two young kids, and the nicest people. The time we spent with them was amazing, but not gonna lie, being in a family environment like that made me pretty homesick. But don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved it and it was so good. They asked us questions trying to stump us, but we'd use the Bible and they'd admit that our point made sense. They said next time they'll bring their cousin and we'll bring a member, and basically I think it'll be like a big Bible bash. We'll see though. They're still the nicest people ever.

Another amazing thing that happened was we had exchanges. Elder Mafi came to TTG with me. Man do I love that Togan. Our exchange was so fun and worked us half to death. We grinded the work. And miracle numero two of that day was after the exchange,  Elder Shum and I went and had a lesson with our Aboriginal friends! Holy crap was I so happy. Definitely don't have favorites;)(ha, says every lying parent ever). Their names are Frank, Judy, and Rosemary. And the lesson went amazing and they loved the things we had to teach. We also got to teach using an Aboriginal art book that explains the lessons. Probably one of my favorite mission memories.

Some other side things that happened: we visited a member in this care places, he's been lonely so we pushed him in his wheelchair and he gave us a tour. (He's the one I have the Santa Clause picture with) Then to cheer him up we played a game of air-hockey which he absolutely loved. So that made us happy to see him happy. Something else that happened was Thanksgiving! And what did we do... got KFC. Because that's a bird. We went to the plaza to get it not realizing that it's Black Friday week! It was chaotic. So most people were shopping when we door knocked later. Hopefully the sale is still on because I have a money spending problem. Just kidding of course haha.

A little thought I have is who is Christ to us? The Savior asked his disciples of who people say he is. Who is he to us? Just a question I absolutely love asking people.

With Thanksgiving passing, I just wanted to say how thankful I am for all of you. Definitely couldn't be out here living my dream without all the love and support I get. So thank you so much. I love you all, and hope you have the most joyful and stellar week!

The 200 Gang

Hey Everyone! I swear I say this every week, but man did I love this week! For starters, our district made a goal to place 200 Book of Mormons in a month. So with that as our focus, we've been seeing much more miracles. That alone has made the week amazing. You may be asking, but Elder Kapp, what are the miracles that have come this week? Well wonder no further. Because my favorite miracle of the week was Chris. So to back up a little, we had three lessons Saturday morning. And each one fell through. Man was it frustrating. So we had time free up. So I looked at the map and saw this guy taught in the past and we felt strong about seeing him. So we went over, he opens and tries to blow us off. But I had enough! (it was a frustrating morning) So I did what I do best, I talked. The talking led to him having questions, which led to us teaching. By the end he was just in tears because dang was the spirit strong. He said it was a miracle we came that day because that day he was at his lowest and needed someone most. And right before we left, he asked for a hug and said he wanted us back. I'm very excited to see what the spirit brings Chris.

Anywho that was long, sorry. Other stuff that happened this week was we had a lesson with our friends Vilameen and Reyno (pronounced Rhino). That was super beast and went amazing. They're a very nice younger couple. We also had a crazy physical service on Tuesday. Which was me with a pickaxe, smacking dirt as hard as cement for two hours. It was hot, it was physical, and boy was I sore the next day. But it made them happy so it was worth it. Oh and I saw a koala in their tree so can't complain.
There was a day this week where we just visited less actives. And to my surprise, a lot invited us in. We met heaps of members and made loads of connections. That was another miracle. Overall this week was just jammed pack with lessons like I've never had before. It was very much needed because days here and there have been kicking my butt. But our Heavenly Father knows me, and boy does he know how to help.
A little spiritual thought I have is from the Come Follow Me lesson. And like the most famous scripture from the Bible for our Church. James 1:5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." Like how much simpler could they put it? If you have a question, go to the source which is God and ask. Like if people just did this first off, we'd just all be happier, and second, there would way less confusion. The world is confusing, so why turn to it for answers. Like confusion, plus confusion, doesn't equal peace. So we need to go to the source of peace to find it. Huh, makes sense haha.
There's heaps more that happened this week, but again to add it all, you'd be reading a novel. So just will have the moments that impacted me most.
I love you all and am so very grateful for all you do for me. Y'all are the best. And again, if you're ever bored, then hey, I'm a good listener, shoot me an email:). I hope you all have a great week. Talk to you next week!

My Third born in The Wilderness

First week done with Elder Shum. And let me tell you, it was a pretty stellar week. So Tuesday was transfers and Elder Carr dropped off Elder Shum and took Elder Orr. And then there were two. So first day we went out and door knocked off the start. And that actually went pretty good. Elder Shum is willing to jump right in it, and its been so great to see.

Wednesday we had district council with our new beast district. Then after we saw a lot of people and then had lessons with our friends Anna and then Theo. So pretty beast day. Then on Thursday we had two amazing lessons with our friends John and then our friend Will. Then after we knocked doors which was super beast. Then we went to visit some members and past people being taught. Friday was probably my biggest struggle day in the mission. Elder Shum hadn't broken in his shoes and got this huge blisters. So our mission nurse grounded us for the day. So we studied, literally all day. And then called a ton of people until we called everyone possible. But that evening we had a dinner with a family in the ward. And then after that we had our Samoan Bible Study. Now I was able to bring a Samoan with me so that was nice. But with that, I'm now the only white person in the room. But it was good and then after they made us eat more food. KFC to be exact.
Saturday was our grind day. We had a lesson in the morning at the chapel with our friends Gihad and Tom. That went super beast. Then after we had a service where we put down heaps of mulch and then planted trees. Pretty fun service not gonna lie. After that we saw some more friends and later in the evening we had a lesson with our friend Stephen. And to close the night, the park by has had heaps of food trucks, so you know we had to stop by. 10/10 it was so good.
Then Sunday we had church and most of the ward was gone so Elder Shum didn't get to meet too many people. Then we had our weekly planning which went awhile. Had to walk Elder Shum through everyone. Then we had some visits and went to the Neave's for dinner. Very classy, we had our non alcoholic red and white wine (just sparkling cider but dang was it fancy. Video on my google photos.) Then we ate heaps of good food. So I went home happy happy.
A little spiritual thought I had was just that no one said following Jesus Christ would be easy, just that it would be worth it. If we have our eyes on him, then we can't get lost in the bad and negative things of life.
Well everyone, I hope you have a great week. As always, thank you for everything. Today I hit 11 months, so I'll see you all in just over a year. Love you all, talk to you next week!
